Thank you! I just watched the recorded interview and read along with the transcript. I am currently reading Elisabeth Elliot: A Life. I have a close friend who has read a couple of other biographies on Elliot. We had a good discussion about what we've read and some of the controversies about Elliot, especially in regard to her choices in marriages and staying married, etc. We both agreed that we bring to the book as readers our own lives, choices, and experiences. I've had a difficult but lengthy marriage (41 years.) My friend has had a healthy and loving marriage. I have chosen to honor the vows and commitment I made. In addition, my mother was born the same month and year as Elisabeth. I know through my mother and many of her friends, the culture and society changes during their lives. I'm a person who asks questions. It is a wonderful way to try and understand others. How they feel about certain subjects. How they especially feel about the choices they made. My mother regretted marrying my dad. She too stayed married to him. However, my mother during the years she had Alzheimer's, 18 years in total, dad was very faithful to care for her. It became the strongest part of his legacy. His faithfulness. Lastly, even though I made poor choices in life. God has still been with me. He has still blessed me despite those choices. The hardships in my life have deepened and strengthened my relationship with the Lord because I have depended on Him, where if I had had an easier time, I probably would not have. These are some of my thoughts after hearing the interview. Thanks again.
