This is good. It’s also damn hard. Thank you for calling us to Christ in this moment.

Thank you Jen for expressing so well what I feel is a Jesus inspired response. I've been reading and rereading Solomon's and Ezra's prayers for the nations. You''ve given me a framework to work within.

This is challenging and so hard and yet so so so so needed. It reminds me of when Osama Bin Laden died and some of us invited our congregations to pray for him, a child of God, who died. When Jesus told us to pray for our enemies, he never said it would be easy or comfortable.

Wow, that's a vivid example of praying for our enemies - and doing what is counter to our natural inclinations!

Thank you for articulating what many of us feel but neglect to put into words, much less prayers. I am forwarding today's "article" to my home Bible study group and life group so we can join you in your "draft" which is so astute. God bless you as you continue to WRITE and PRAY!

Thank you for this great post!

I love your thoughts, Jeni! I’m especially grateful for the intercession prompts. I plan to print them and pray through one every day and start over again when I’ve prayed through the last one.

Fantastic post. Praying God hears your prayers and all those of persons who pray in like manner.

We know God hears our prayers, even if he answers in wisdom we might not see or appreciate!

Thank you. I'm a Canadian leading an online prayer meeting. Last Thursday we read chapter 18 of Alvin Vandergriend's Praying God's Heart. "The World Lives by Uplifted Hands", in which he calls us to pray for our neighbors, towns/cities, authorities, nations and world. He challenges us to "Make intercessory prayer for neighbors, cities, authorities, nations, and the world a regular part of your prayer life. Be as specific and systematic as possible. Pray with the absolute assurance that something will happen because you prayed that wouldn’t have happened if you hadn’t prayed."

Just reading your response…would be so interested in your online prayer meeting. Can you send me any info? Thanks!

This has been the best article I have ran across on politics. I have been very disheartened that believers have trashed a candidate they do not agree with, in an immature, temper tantrum, hateful way. One of the things I especially loved was that I do not have ANY idea who you would vote for. Rather than hateful speech against one particular candidate, we are called to pray for them, and lament that the state of our nation happens to be not the candidates, but “if my people which are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will heal their land”. 2 Chronicles 7:14. Thank you for a mature and godly article.

Jen, I want to link my readers to this essay. You articulate my convictions so much better than I can. Would it be possible for me to share it in its entirety? I have a couple of thousand views each month and usually 20+ comments weekly. MaggieRowe.com
