I listened to a podcast yesterday of a woman in fashion who challenged herself to purchase no more than five new items of clothing a year. She came in at 11 items, significantly down from her typical yearly consumption, & talked about using what she had. The application of this is vast, and so important.
The Divine Hours and how lovely it looks on the desk below your new artwork! Fabulous photo and post. Shopping my home is a regular creative practice and I can so relate to your burst of inspiration to move lamps around :)
First, so glad to hear a book on ROL might be in the future! Loved your thoughts today, and what a great pic of you at your desk. The Art of Biblical Narrative looks intriguing.
A second to Jane Kenyon! And thanks for the thoughts about use what you have in the context of faith. Myquillen is the only home designer I read/follow, and I love where you’ve taken her idea today.
This post and its message are right on time for me. Thank you for so much for sharing it. It recalls a line from a Wendell Berry poem (a line I actually have on a mug): “What we need is here.”
Your picture by Sarah 😍 and I love that mantra from Smith and your take on it will have me thinking today
Didn’t she do a great job???
Thank you for this. 'Use what you have ' is both gentle and compassionate and a call to action.
A both/and!

I really like this phrase: stewardship of self
Grateful for your thoughts.
Ooo that sounds like a fruitful practice of the small and intentional!

Thanks for reading, Tina!
That is a beautiful picture of you and your office! So appreciate the perspective/reminder to “use what you have”—thank you. Also,
The New Bible Dictionary and the Dictionary of Biblical Imagery look amazing 🤩!
Those are really great resources! And thank you for the warm compliments! Not a fan of getting headshots, but it was a good process!
I am sure glad you invited me to talk about EE because I am really appreciating your words in my inbox. Thank you for this!

keys to bonhoeffer's house
A favorite, by a very dear friend!
Loved this. Anyway you would share the other two house rules😊 although just the one you mentioned is worth a sticky note in every room!
I might do a post with the other rules in the upcoming weeks!

I love that she’s so accessible in terms of her advice!

Yes, wonderful! I love how simple and ordinary the occasions of her poems are!
