I thought Reading Genesis could equally well have been titled Enjoying Genesis, for Robinson’s intent is clearly not to quibble about textual details or rehash the same old arguments. And I enjoyed the reminder that God loves people much more than we give him credit for as evidenced by his great constancy in honoring his word and acting in alignment with his revealed character and attributes.

We are reading through the Bible chronologically with a FB group. Second time for me. NLT. Are you going to post your thought as you read through?

Good question! I haven’t really intended to do this, though I hope to have all January posts this month focus on Scripture in some way.

What a wonderful perspective to influence my Monday morning! I tend to read the Bible from cover to cover with a chapter from the Old Testament paired with a chapter in the New Testament. When I finish, I start over again. This post makes me want to jump back to Genesis with the accompaniment of Robinson‘s book.

You can definitely find it a bit frustrating because it doesn’t proceed, super systematically, chapter by chapter. Just be forewarned about that!

I just started meandering through Robinson’s book a few days ago. I may or may not be reading it in Pastor Ames’ voice in my head.

Great reflection on Robinson’s book! My “devotional time” has evolved very similarly to yours—engaging with the psalms and a singular OT book all the way through. It’s as if I’ve been holding a live wire in each hand and finally bringing them together—wow!

I heartily recommend The Five Books of Miriam by Ellen Frankel which was a big help

In seeing the Torah from a new perspective.
